Daily

One habit, two ways to keep it. Either one keeps your streak.

Two modes, one habit

Daily is a heading with two things under it. Tap Daily in the bar and choose:

  • Reflection — one short text a day. You read it and write about it: key words, a sentence, then a full comment. The work you produce is words.
  • Reading — a portion of the Bible a day, on your way through a year of it. The work you produce is ground covered.

They are genuinely different habits, not a long version and a short one. Reflection hands everyone the same passage on the same calendar date, so a family can compare answers without arranging anything. Reading keeps your place in a sequence, so you and someone who started a week ago are in different chapters — which is exactly what a reading goal is.

You do not have to pick one. A day counts toward your streak whichever of the two you did, so some mornings you read and some you write, and the run keeps going.
02

Your streak and your calendar

The streak belongs to Daily, not to either mode — reflect or read, the day counts. The badge shows where you are:

  • 1–6 days — one flame
  • 7–13 days — two flames
  • 14–29 days — three flames
  • 30+ days — diamond

Miss a day and the current streak resets, but your longest is always kept. Over time you also pass participation levels: Seedling, Growing, Rooted, Summit. The monthly calendar shows the pattern — green for a full day, amber for a partial one.

"Today" is your today. The app uses your device's date and time zone, so an evening in one country is not already tomorrow in another.
03

Two languages at once

Set a second language in your profile and both modes read in two languages side by side — the same passage, twice, with a compare toggle that lines them up verse for verse. Nothing to install: the public-domain Bibles that ship with the app cover both.

Which language is which matters. Translations run toward the language you are learning, and the vocabulary scan reads that side by default rather than the one you already have.

Language learning is a consistency game more than a talent one. Five to ten minutes most days beats an hour on Sundays, which is what the streak is for.

You don't need an account to read

Daily Reading asks nothing of us. The schedule and the orderings come with the app, the Bible text sits in your browser's own storage, and your progress is saved on your device. Open it, choose an order, start reading — no sign-up.

Daily Reflection asks you to sign in, because it keeps your answers, your streak and your calendar for you, and those live on our side rather than in your browser. A free account is enough.

Reading's progress lives in this browser, so there is a take-it-with-you file to move it between devices or rescue it after a reset. Signing in means we keep your place instead.

Where to go next

  • Daily Reflection — the three sources, the three exercises, the group game, and importing a book of daily readings.
  • Daily Reading — the portions, the orderings including by date written, how your place is kept, and the three views of the year.
  • Switch modes rather than skip a day — nothing to write? Read a portion instead. The streak does not mind which.
