Comment Coach includes a full Bible study environment. You can browse chapters, search by reference or keyword, compare translations side by side, select verses, and write comments — all from your browser, even offline.
All Bible data is stored locally on your device in IndexedDB. Nothing is uploaded to the server. Two free translations are bundled by default: ASV (English) and RV1909 (Spanish).
Installing Bibles
Open the Bible Catalog
Go to Bibles → Catalog. The catalog lists 168+ translations from multiple sources, grouped by language.
Install a translation
Click Install next to any direct-download entry. The progress bar shows download, parsing, and storage phases. Most installs take a few seconds.
JW.org editions require accepting their terms of use first, then downloading the EPUB file from their site and dropping it into the import zone.

You can also import Bible files directly: EPUB, MySword (.mybible),
e-Sword (.bblx), or JSON. Drop the file on the import zone and it auto-detects the format.
Browsing & reading
Go to Bibles to see your installed translations. Click Browse to open the book navigator, then select a book and chapter.
The chapter view shows all verses with verse numbers. Use the Prev/Next buttons to navigate between chapters, or open the book navigator to jump to any book.
Searching Scripture
The Bible Search supports two modes:
- Citation search — type a reference like "Heb 6:10", "he6.10", or "Hebreos 6:10". The parser auto-detects English and Spanish and shows all matching versions side by side.
- Full-text search — type keywords to search across all verses in all installed Bibles. Results are grouped by translation with filter chips.
Recent searches are saved as chips for quick re-access.
Parallel verse comparison
Click any verse number in the chapter view to open the parallel comparison panel. This shows the same verse across every installed translation, grouped by language (English versions together, Spanish versions together).
This is useful for spotting nuances in translation — how different Bibles render key words or phrases.
Commenting on verses
Select verses
Press C to enter selection mode. Click verses to toggle them. Use Shift+Click to select a range. The selection bar at the bottom shows how many verses are selected.
Click "Comment"
The comment overlay opens with the selected verses shown as a read-only source panel. Write your comment in the text area below. If you have bilingual mode enabled, you'll see both an English and Spanish text area.
Add tags and save
Add tags to organize your comments by topic (type and press Enter or comma). Click Save. Your comment is saved to a subject named after the book and chapter (e.g., "Hebrews 6"), created automatically if it doesn't exist.
Get coaching
After saving, you can coach your comment from the dashboard like any other entry. The coaching evaluates clarity, depth, and relevance against the source passage.
Alternative: Compose-then-cite
You can also start from the Compose Form on your dashboard:
- Click Add Scripture in the compose form
- The BiblePicker opens — select Version → Book → Chapter → Verses
- The selected verse text auto-fills the source field, and the reference auto-populates the subject name
- Write your comment and save
Managing your Bible library
- Export Library — download all installed Bibles as a JSON backup file
- Restore Library — re-import from a backup file (duplicates are auto-skipped)
- Update detection — JW.org Bibles show an update badge when a newer version is available on CDN
- Storage — chapter-level compression reduces each Bible to ~1-5 MB
Tips
- Install both an English and a Spanish Bible for bilingual verse comparison
- Use citation shortcuts: "ge1" for Genesis 1, "re21.4" for Revelation 21:4
- Your preferred Bible version is remembered between sessions
- All Bible data works offline — no internet needed to read, search, or comment
- Verse comments auto-group into subjects by chapter, so your insights stay organized

Where is my Bible data stored?
In your browser's IndexedDB, locally on your device. Nothing is uploaded to the server. If you clear browser data, you'll need to re-install or restore from a backup.
Can I use any Bible translation?
The catalog includes 168+ translations. You can also import any Bible in EPUB, MySword, e-Sword, or JSON format by dragging it onto the import zone.
How does verse selection work on mobile?
Tap a verse to toggle selection. Long-press one verse, then tap another to select a range. The selection bar appears at the bottom with a "Comment" button.
Can I move my Bible library to another device?
Yes. Use Export Library to download a JSON backup, then Restore Library on the new device. See the Library Transfer guide for full instructions.
