Upload audio, a photo, or a PDF — Comment Coach handles the rest.

Comment Coach accepts three types of files. You don't need to tell it which kind — just upload and the app figures it out.
- Audio files (MP3, WAV, M4A, etc.) — transcribed and structured into sections for commenting
- Photos (JPG, PNG, etc.) — text extracted from the image using OCR. Great for printed pages, slides, or handwritten notes
- PDF documents — text extracted directly from digital PDFs (instant), or via OCR for scanned PDFs

Tap "+ New" and choose "Upload a file"
Select a file from your device, take a photo with your camera (mobile), or drag and drop a file (desktop).
The app automatically detects whether it's audio, an image, or a PDF.

Review the result
Audio: Review the transcription, edit sections, and adjust titles.
Image: Review the extracted text and fix any OCR errors.
PDF: Select which pages to include and review the text.

Use the text
Tap Use as Source Text to create an entry you can comment on, or Add as Reference to save it as study material.
How it works on your device
iPhone / iPad (Safari)
- Tap "Take Photo" to open the camera, or "Choose File" to pick from Photos
- You can also select files from iCloud Drive or the Files app
- PDF upload works from Files, iCloud, or email attachments
Android (Chrome)
- "Take Photo" opens the camera directly for quick page scans
- "Choose File" picks from Gallery, Downloads, or Google Drive
- If you've installed Comment Coach, you can share audio, photos, and PDFs directly from any app
Windows / Mac (Desktop)
- "Choose File" opens a standard file picker
- You can also drag and drop a file onto the upload area
- Great for screenshots, scanned documents, voice memos, or PDFs from email
Tips
- Audio — longer recordings may take a minute to process. The progress indicator shows transcription and structuring stages.
- Photos — shoot straight-on with good lighting for best OCR results. Crop to just the text area.
- PDFs — digital PDFs (where you can select text) extract instantly. Scanned PDFs take a few seconds per page.
- Audio sync playback — uploaded audio supports synchronized playback with the transcript.
