Live Capture

Record audio in real time, get it transcribed, and turn it into structured study material.

What is Live Capture?

Live Capture lets you record audio — a talk, a study session, a lecture — and have it automatically transcribed and broken into sections you can comment on. It works from both the subjects list (creates a new subject) and from inside a subject (adds to the existing one).

01

Start a capture

Tap the Live Capture button (microphone icon). You'll see a setup screen where you can choose a template, set the source language, and optionally enable translation.

Requires an internet connection for real-time transcription.

02

Record and take notes

Press record and speak or listen. The transcript appears in real time. You can add timestamped notes during the session — tap the note button to mark important moments.

03

Review and save

When you stop recording, you'll see the full transcript organized into sections (if AI structuring is enabled). Give it a title, review the sections, and tap Save.

Each section becomes a paragraph entry you can comment on, with the transcript stored as a reference.

Where to find Live Capture

  • Subjects list — creates a brand new subject with the recording
  • Inside a subject — adds the recording to that existing subject

Tips

  • Session recovery — if you accidentally close the page, Comment Coach can recover your in-progress session.
  • Translation — enable auto-translation to get a bilingual transcript for language practice.
  • Templates — save your preferred settings as a template for quick setup next time.
