Paragraph Workspace

Getting to the workspace

The paragraph workspace opens whenever you study an article with numbered paragraphs. You can reach it from:

• Study an Article — import an EPUB, pick from your library, or paste text with numbered paragraphs.
• Library — browse an imported article and click Study or the + button on any paragraph.
• Subject view — click Comment on a subject with imported article content.

Select a paragraph

Paragraph chips appear at the top showing each numbered paragraph. Click one to see its preview text and any associated study question. Special chips include:

• Review Qs — review questions from the end of the article.
• General — a general observation not tied to any paragraph. You can specify when it's best to raise it.

Chips show badges: ✓ for finalized comments, ✎ for work in progress.

Choose your intent

If the paragraph has a study question, you'll see it displayed along with an intent toggle:

• Answer this question — you're directly answering the study question.
• Related comment — a supporting point, personal experience, or side observation.
• Scripture — comment on a specific verse cited in the paragraph (only shown when scriptures are available).

If the question has sub-parts like (a) and (b), you can select which part you're addressing.

Scripture citations

When your article's EPUB includes embedded scripture text, the workspace automatically extracts the cited verses for each paragraph. You'll see a collapsible Scriptures panel below the paragraph preview showing the full text of every verse the paragraph references.

• Expand/collapse — tap the "Scriptures (N)" label to show or hide the verse text.
• Language toggle — if you imported bilingual articles, the verse text switches language along with the paragraph.
• Scripture intent — select the "Scripture" intent, then pick a specific verse chip. AI Ideas will generate comments that connect that verse to the paragraph's point.

Write, coach, iterate

Write your comment in the textarea. Hoot shows a contextual tip based on your intent. When ready, click Save & Coach for feedback, or AI Ideas if you need a starting point.

After coaching, you'll see your score and suggestions. Click Edit & Improve to refine, then coach again. Most comments reach their best version in 1-2 rounds.

Finalize and move on

Click Finalize when you're satisfied. The paragraph chip shows ✓ and the compose area resets so you can work on another paragraph. You can add multiple comments to the same paragraph (e.g., answering different sub-parts).
